Less trucks, more trains- two trains per week replace 4000 trucks per year.

Regular intermodal transport starts after successful test train.

Dettmer Rail, in cooperation with its sister companies Durmin Entsorgung Und Logistik GmbH ‘Die Grünen Engel’, MDU Nürnberg and EVB, is looking forward to implementing a regular intermodal train service. With immediate effect, two trains per week are planned with GATX intermodal wagons, which will shift freight from road to rail.

This important step builds on the positive results of the test train and represents a significant milestone in the further development of intermodal transport services. The introduction of two regular trains per week will not only increase the efficiency of transport, but will also make a significant contribution to relieving road congestion and reducing CO2 emissions. Shifting transport to rail will save around 1500 tonnes of CO2 per year. Previously, around 108,000 tonnes of backfill material were transported to Stetten exclusively by road, which required 30 trucks per day.

The close cooperation between Dettmer Rail, Durmin, MDU Nuremberg, EVB and GATX shows how successfully the transition from road to rail can be implemented in practice. The planned regular transits mark a further step in the promotion of sustainable logistics solutions.

Shifting from road to rail: an important step towards the future of mobility and climate protection!
