On February 25th, 2024, an inland waterway vessel collided with the Hunte Bridge near Elsfleth and the damage caused made the railway bridge impassable for freight traffic. This cut the only rail connection to the ports of Nordenham and Brake.

Numerous freight wagons and locomotives were trapped on the downstream rail infrastructure. This also included locomotives from our long-standing partner ECCORail, which were traveling on our behalf.

The strong networking between the Dettmer Group companies enabled a quick solution to the problem.
Within a week, our sister company LS Cargo organized the craneing of two locomotives onto a suitable Dettmer Group inland waterway vessel.

On March 4th both machines were successfully re-railed in the Neustädter Harbor in Bremen an were able to go back into use today.
